December 2007

1st - Worldbeaters (with Bangshees) - World AIDS Day parade from Monument Newcastle to Sage Gateshead [meet at Monument 2:45pm wearing red and black - see also t-shirts]

17th - Streetbeaters - Annual Christmas Party. This will be our last session of 2007 and Beatniks and Bang On! will be performing for each other, family & friends, and enjoying nibbles (contributions welcome ;-) [5:30-7pm] RSVP

4th - Worldbeaters - Stockton International Riverside Festival Parade [coach pick up from Sinf at 9am, back at 4pm]

July 2007

7th - Worldbeaters - Cookson Community Festival Parade, South Shields.

Parade leaves the town hall at 1pm, so we will need to meet before to get set up. More details to come.

Last year this was loads of fun, with loads of other performers, street theatre and floats, so it’s not one to miss!

Also a great chance to hook up with our sister samba group Custom Beats, which launched in May in the Customs House.

14th - Worldbeaters - Mouth of the Tyne Festival Parade, South Shields.

Parade leaves Gypsies Green at 11am, need to meet 10:30 am at least to get set up and ready. More details to come.

We will play alongside Custom Beats, our sister samba band in South Shields, and will be performing with a dance group who will be dancing to our music as we parade and perform. Costumes we hope too.

Huge scale performance, with drumming groups performing on both sides of the river, the Barracudas (street theatre company complete with brass section, drummers, dancers and costumes), and lots of other music groups, DJs, floats etc.

A big turnout of drummers will have the best impact and make this the most fun possible.

June 2007

23rd - Worldbeaters - Castles Music Launch Parade, Ashington, NE63 8BQ [Google map link]

Kate, Chris and Alex are leading a music project in a specific estate in Ashington. To kick start this project, we will be playing on the estate and parading around the streets to demonstrate how much fun it is to play Brazilian music!

Meet at 10:30am at the top of Chillingham Crescent in Ashington. Perform at 11am and parade for an hour or so.

Dress code: red and black.

17th - Streetbeaters Meeting - Cluny, Ouseburn Valley, from 6:30pm - bring some ideas - all welcome - the more the merrier!

3rd - Worldbeaters - Busk at Grey's Monument, Newcastle (from 11am)
17th - Worldbeaters - Jesmond Festival. 12pm parade to Bell's Yard from St. Georges Church, Osborne Road, NE2 2TF (the one by the big green). Performance following parade in Bell's Yard. [Drummers meet at the church 11.15am wearing black & red]

19th - Streetbeaters AGM - We hope as many of you as possible will be able to attend. There will be no drumming this night.

8th - Streetbeaters - Monday night rehearsal sessions begin.
15th - Streetbeaters - Monday night rehearsals suspended until further notice.
22nd - Streetbeaters - Meeting to discuss our future, 7pm, Sinfonia Building - please all try to attend.
29th - Streetbeaters - are back! All groups will run as normal

11th - Streetbeaters - Annual Christmas Party. This will be our last session of 2006 and all three bands will be performing for each other, family & friends, and enjoying sausage rolls & mince pies (contributions welcome ;-) [6-7:30pm]

23rd - Streetbeaters - L'Afrique á Newcastle Festival - African mask-maker and story-teller Dominic Tshaba will lead the procession from Baltic square in Gateshead, across the Millennium Bridge, along the quayside then up Dean street towards the Monument. [See mailing list for specifics]

1st - Worldbeaters Westfield School PTA Ball in Gosforth, 6.30 to 7.30pm [formal black tie with a touch of tropicana]
8th - Beatnicks and Bang On! East End Fun Run/Riverside Festival, Thomas Gaughan Community Centre, Yelverton Close, Pottery Bank, Walker, Newcastle [map]. Beatniks meet at 11:40am (look out for silver van!); aprox. 15mins performance at 12 noon. Bang On! meet at 12.20pm for a 15mins performance at 12.45pm.
